Sub in an extended cab
I've been wanting to add a little bit of thump to the truck for a while now. I've already got a Pioneer HU and the factory speakers have been replaced with some Pioneers as well. It does sound better, but.
For a little background info on me, I am definitly not looking to have it rattle windows at 1/2 mile away, nor will it ever be in an audio comp. I am simply looking to bump it up a little so I can feel it. Also, I listen to mostly country, with a good handfull of Kid Rock and so here and there other stuff...a good mix of music really, so it is not for a specific type of music. And, as I am getting "older" so I've been told, I don't always feel the need to crank it up anymore either.
OK, with that said, I also am not willing to give up the rear seat, and for now I need to be able to place my fire department gear on top of the box. Also, I would like for the jack and related items to remain in the factory location. Neither do I want to loose the console space like with the JL Steathbox...not to mention it is more than I would like to spend.
Which leads to part three...I'm not really wanting to go overboard with the $. I would rather stick my money into the Jeep that I'm going to be building up, but I don't mind to drop maybe $200 on it.
So, what I have got in my head...with my VERY limited audio knowledge...is a single 10" or possibly 12" sub. The box would not be able to extend past the fold down seat when it is down...since leg room is a little tight back there.
I bought a small sheet of MDF and I've got some fiberglass, but I've never made custom enclosures before. Anyone have any pics or suggestions?
