thats strange, i am pretty sure all of the 03 trucks i have worked on systems for the rear seat bolts up the same as my 04 and the same as 05-07 trucks I have built. however i do think 02 and older are different i know they have have more room back there. I do agree you should not need to move your seat to get good sound. if you do your home work you can pick the right sub that will work with the air space that is available. many configureations will work; 4- 8's, 2-4-10's or 2- 12's. its all about picking the right speaker.
