I have a 2000 powerstroke, 4wd with 200,000 miles on it. The transmission functions perfectly fine with the stock program, but I start having some problem when I run any of the power programs using and edge evolution programmer. When accelerating at about 2/3 throttle it will shift 1-2 fine, then into 3rd fine but then it feels like it goes into a slight freewheel or defuel and then it bangs hard back into gear. The following overdrive shift feels fine.(The torque converter and 4th gear shift feel like they happen at the same time with this controller). It does not do it at light throttle or full throttle, and it seems to do it worse if you start at full throttle but start backing out of the throttle prior to the third gear shift. I thought I had it fixed by softening the shift firmness in the controller but it did it again the other day.
I am mostly wanting to figure out what is cuasing the freewheeling sensation just after the third gear shift. I don't want to kill the tranny, but I also don't like running it with the stock program. In addition to power the programmer has improved my fuel mileage.
