Engine missfiring and spitting smoke

I am goning to try and describe what my truck started doing and hope someone will have some advice.

Last night driving on the hwy. at about 70mph, the truck was running great. I slowed and moved around a car and while accelarating I felt a hesitation and sounded like a miss. It imediatly went away and all was fine. In the span of about 6 miles I exited the hwy going to my stop and slowed for the turnaroud, the truck started to idle rough and not run well. Drove 2 blocks to my stop and it felt like it was going to die. Pulled in the parking lot, rough idle and when you would give it any gas it would sputter and miss like crazy.
This morning I checked the air filter for blockage and the exhaust output felt normal at idle. The idle this morning was pretty smooth and normal sounding.
I attempted to drive home from Houston to Austin. The truck would run about 50mph/ about 2000rpm with the overdrive off. This is the most I could get out of the engine. If I gave it any more fuel it would sputter and miss and white smoke would come out of the exhaust. Almost like raw fuel was being dumped into the engine.
The truck got to the point of not wanting to go anymore and now barely wants to idle.

Not sure where to go from here, Injectors?? Fuel Pump??
Also the check engine light never came on, neither did the fuel in water light.
The last time I got fuel was in Austin friday night before I drove to Houston.
Made it down there with no problems.

Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.

Nick
