Well, after my successful run at Diesel Thunder, I thought I would head
down to Weekend on the Edge in Ogden Utah and see what my truck could
do. My dad offered to haul the Cummins Forum Truck on his trailer. We
decided to have a road trip.
The couple days that I was preparing my truck for the race did not go
well. The new Snow Performance box that I was sent blew up and I could
not find the source of the problem. My truck was also having a hard
time building up any kind of boost when I was practicing staging, and
my truck was idling funny. Nevertheless, we packed it up and went to
Utah.

Before I left, I got a small rash on my face, which turned into an
infection on the trip and was pretty gross to say the least. We had
just crossed the state line into Utah(from North Idaho) and I could
feel this infection traveling up to my ear, so, we quickly sought out
the immediate care center in Bountiful, Utah. Turned out I had a Staph
Infection! GREAT! I had to take a series of pills and put ointment on
my face several times a day. I looked like the dude from the Phantom of
the Opera without his mask on. I mean, we are talking NASTY. It was a
spot on my face about 3x4" on my right side all read, swollen, broken,
and just oozing pus constantly. Hopefully you arent eating dinner when
you are reading this.
Needless to say, I was extremely embarrassed with how I looked, but
went anyways. People were nice enough to talk to me even though I
looked like something from a horror flick. We got all registered,
signed in and inspected.

The track that we went to RMR(Rocky Mountain Raceways) was extremely
professional compared to SRP(Spokane Raceway Park) where I usually go
race. My first(and last) two trial runs were failures. The first one,
we had to last minutely get up to the line so I was flustered, and was
trying to get my helmet on. Being flustered and trying to figure
everything out at this new Raceway, I forgot to build up boost until it
was time to go. My time was 16 something. Not good. The second time
around was much better. I got staged and built up boost but my truck
made so much black smoke that it washed out the Tree! I couldnt see the
lights and when the smoke cleared, the other truck had already taken
off and I was 6 seconds behind! My reaction time obviously was not
good, but I took off pretty fast. Another 100ft and I would have passed
the guy I was racing.
Time came to start the actual racing and, well, remember that
medication the doc put me on? Yeah...I got to spend the race time
leaning over the toilet. It was not fun. I missed the races. I will say
one thing though. I'm glad that raceway was as nice as it was because
the toilet I was leaning over was pretty clean compared to most public
toilets. My stomach finally settled down and I said goodbye to the
toilet bowl.

The next day was a little better. We went to Edge Products headquarters
and watched Dyno's, take a tour of Edge and meet really cool people. I
really enjoyed meeting and talking to JB Hinrichs, the Marketing Guru
that helped the Cummins Forum Truck get sponsored and Matt Clark, the
Sales Manager. I used to talk with Matt Clark a lot back in the days
when I sold Diesel Performance Parts. I was very impressed with
everyone I met, and saw that worked at Edge Products. Everyone was
clean, professional, and curteous.

The tour of Edge Products
facility was VERY impressive. It was good to see a Diesel Performance
Parts company that took so much pride in their product, and had such
good quality control. Their quality control station makes sure that
everyone takes their time to make sure that everything that ships out
of Edge Products is working correctly. I do remember when I used to
sell Performance Parts that Edge seemed to have 5% of their products
returned, whereas other manufacturers like Bullydog had 15-20%
returned. Edge definitely makes a good product.

Well, we wrapped up at Edge
Products, and headed home. On our way home we went on a hunt in Preston
Idaho for Napoleon Dynamites house. We passed by Pedro's house, the
school and even Rex Qwando's Dojo! After an hour or two of searching
the countryside, we finally found it! Napoleon Dynamites house! Of
course, it did help that we stopped by the Burger Place in town and
grabbed a map. You can see the pictures of our trucks in front of
Napoleon Dynamites house down below.
It
was a great trip overall. Even though I was near death, it was
memorable. If you havent ever been to a Weekend on the Edge event, I
highly recommend that you do. They put on a good show and provide some
really good food! Visit here for the Dyno and Race Results:
